Will changing a legal 2 unit building to a 1 unit sfu lower the property tax?

I own a legal 2 flat building and want to know if changing the unit status to a 1 unit building lower the property tax. My property tax is 6000 per year and there are actually 3 units but legally two. If so how do you go about doing so?
