If you work for a parent company or PBM you may perform desk audits or physical on-site audits. Working for a third party vendor would be mostly on-site audits. Physical audits can take you into shady areas and sometime you will have to work in a basement to access the records needed, the other think you should be aware of is: You will be everyone’s least favorite person. You will have to take a lot of yelling and name calling. However, it is a rewarding when you find that one big flaw in the system; the interaction is limited with clients. Most audits are completed electronically. Travel will depend on the type on companies you might work for. I would expect not more than 25%, the pay exceeds and retail pay plus the hour are better. It’s hard to say which company is good to work for; I depends on the benefits you are looking for like, work at home day, bonus.
