What do in-house attorneys do at big insurance companies?

I’m living in South America- I’m a US attorney. Entry level. I was just called by a huge British insurance company here to interview for a job working in-house. I didn’t actually apply to the job so don’t know much of anything about it. Any clues what this could be?

What do in-house attorneys at insurance companies do? Go through some of the questions in this area of Yahoo Answers. Do you see all the posts about people wanting to sue insurance companies for this reason or that reason? The in-house attorneys at insurance companies defend the insurer against all of these people.
You were called about a job you never applied for? Had you applied with this company for another position? How did they get your information?
Sorry, just the world we live in. I just don’t trust things that come out of the blue.
Before I gave them any information, I’d ask a few questions and make sure this is not a scam.
Reviewing policy forms, defending insureds, corresponding with plaintiff attorneys, court appearances, etc.
Review and negotiate contracts mostly. Occassionally they get involved in branding or human resources as well. Patent work is usually outsourced to a specialty firm.
