Is the IRS going to fine and possible jail this category of Americans! So many people are unemployed because of the state of the economy! I don’t see companies eager to hire now that they will have an added expense under this new health care bill! So I ask again, what happens to a person who has been laid off, no children, no income, no money to buy health insurance? Does this bill fine them and possibly jail them when they can’t help their situation?

w-9 tax form question ?

I have registered a business name and got insurance for doing small odd jobs now and then. I was sent a W-9 form for TIN by my bank. I work full time for a company and they pay all taxes from that but what I’m wondering is how this is all going to affect me. Since I only do a handful of odd jobs as under my own name am I going to be audited every year because i’m only claiming handful of jobs and the IRS is going to think Im cheating them ? How do I file since I work full time for a company, I can’t file sole proprietor because 98% of my income is from an employer. This might be more trouble then it’s worth.

forces people to purchase an insurance plan even those who work for minimum wage? If you do not purchase insurance the IRS will fine you and if you do not pay the fine you will go to jail, does this benefit anyone besides the insurance companies as he sells more policies for them?

Is a W-9 Form needed for Corp to Corp?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question:

I have been offered a salaried position as a Project Manager. I have declined the salary and opted to contract at an hourly rate though my Corporation (LLC) which I have had for 9 years.

The problem is that the hiring company is asking for a W-9 Form to be filled out, Liability Insurance and 3 years worth of financial statements. I am in agreement with the Liability Insurance but have a problem with the financial statements and the W-9 Form.

A W-9 Form is for "contractors" (1099) NOT Corporations. The only example that I can think of is if this same company hired XYZ Carpet Cleaners to clean their carpet, the carpet company would NOT be required to fill out a W-9 Form and 3 years of financial statements if they were a corporation. They would just sign a binding contract, check for insurance, and cut the check after the work was completed.

What is the best way to explain this to the hiring company as many recruiting companies do not fully understand Corp to Corp relationships?

I’m planning to start a mobile tax service office. I’m from CA. I have the CTEC license, PTIN number, insurance and I will get my EFIN for the e-file. The IRS website is not that clear in this issue. This small business will be owne by one person and won’t have any employee. Do I need the EIN?
