I live in NY state. My cell phone bill contains state tax, federal tax, county tax and school tax. What taxes are on your cell phone bill?
Wiz-we have real estate tax in NY state too, Along with taxes on just about everything you can think of. State tax, county tax, city tax, and if you die in NY state, even with a will, the state will get a big hunk of your estate. And still the state is broke and wanting more taxes.

I used an online tax calculator and it said I qualify for a ,100 earned income tax credit. Is this an amount I actually get from the government or is it a credit I can use against some other sort of tax. I already know I’m getting a refund of the federal tax that was withheld throughout the year from my paycheck, but is this over and above that?

I’m filling out my FAFSA form for next year. I’m going to be a grad student.
It asks a question about the total income tax paid in 2007. What does that include is your total income tax, just federal tax or does it include Social Security and medicare tax too?
I’m just wondering

I am trying to figure out how to minimize the amount of federal tax I have to pay and am wondering if I am missing any ways to reduce my adjusted gross income. I live in California and make about ,000 per year. I am not a student. I have a 401k which I contribute the maximum amount to. I also contribute to a Health Savings Account and an IRA. Apart from these three ways, are there any other methods to reduce AGI?

I got married the beginning of last year and went on a deployment and received tax free benefits for 6 months. since i started paying taxes again my federal tax is around 3% my monthly taxable pay is 43.53 and i’ve been paying about .88 a month. I’m also claiming me and my wife in the exemptions? I think it has something to do with the exemptions but it still seems very low.

I am only looking for federal tax witholding information. Is there a tax table that shows the percentage witheld for biweekly income? I’m married, and I only claim 2… but I would like to have a variety of claims to compare what is witheld.
Social Security Tax % witheld based on income?
Medicare Tax % witheld based on income?
Federal Tax % witheld based on income?
I want to be able to look at the chart, and figure out how much will be taken, exactly, every paycheck that I receive.
Thanks.
