need help with state sales tax assessments?

a sales tax issue that went bad 12yrs ago is coming back to haunt us-it was a business partner that took the money and ran instead of paying the sales tax the state has decided twelve yrs later to come after us with outragously high estimatesate. ive tried refiling with amounts that are closer to reality but no response i need an attorney that can help & go after the expartner for his share because supposedly they cant find him but i know exactly where he is
my question is are there any attorneys that deal with these sales tax issues ive tried everywhere irs atorney out hte wazoo but none for state sales tax
im in ohio and i filed an ust-1 form for the months they said were never filed a few months ago neverthought twice about it you know how long the state can take to respond- but now we got a letter saying we owe their original estimates which are way high

I am attempting to show the courts that I have hired 3 attorneys over the course of 5 years to modify child support. Only one of those attorneys ever brought the case to court - THIS YEAR - at which point I was told by the judge that to modify my support would be like rewarding me for not paying.

Before everyone decides to massacre me for being a "deadbeat" there are many, MANY facts you would have to know. Like the fact that I have my child almost 50% of the time & that the father makes a LOT of money, his wife stays at home with NO kids at home & doesn’t work though she has a teaching degree. I am also a stay-at-home mom to 3 kids, 2 of whom are very young.

I need to get my files from the former attorneys who never did anything for me but I want to get them without giving them notice so that they don’t have a chance to take anything from the files.

HOW CAN I DO THAT?

Yes or No?
The defendants attorney told the plaintiff that they filed Sanctions on the plaintiff because of their disabilities on a close case. The judge did not accompany with the defendants attorneys unreasonable and unjust demands.

What the defendants attorney did caused the plaintiff mental anguish!
It caused the plaintiff not only mental anguish but nightmares and to be hospitalized on the Cardiac floor for irregular heart beats that they caused and to be put on the psych floor for nightmares that they caused and causing the plaintiff to scream in their sleep for help and this also caused the plaintiff’s blood pressure, blood sugar and pulse to be out of control.

I’m a lawyer who is about to go into solo bankruptcy practice in the Eastern District of Virginia and I’m looking to buy bankruptcy software. Should I get BestCase, EZFiling, or some third option? I’m especially interested in opinions from attorneys or paralegals who have tried out more than one program.

Do any attorneys really love what they do?

My brother just started working for a large law firm. After three grueling years of law school and all the loans he had to take out to pay for it he thought he had made it. He has been with the firm for about 6 months and hates the work and the way the firm is like a pyramid scheme that sucks the life out of the associates. Anyway, that’s what he says about it so I wondered if there were any attorneys out there that really love what they do, and if so, what makes it worthwhile?

For attorneys: What do you look for in the ideal, entry-level paralegal? Skills? Qualities? What prior experience outside of the realm?

Lawyers!!!?

Reported in the Massachusetts Bar Association Lawyers Journal, the following are questions actually asked of witnesses by attorneys during trials and, in certain cases, the responses given by insightful witnesses:

1. "Now doctor, isn’t it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn’t know about it until the next morning?"

2. "The youngest son, the twenty-year old, how old is he?"

3. "Were you present when your picture was taken?"

4. "Were you alone or by yourself?"

5. "Was it you or your younger brother who was killed in the war?"

6. "Did he kill you?"

7. "How far apart were the vehicles at the time of the collision?"

8. "You were there until the time you left, is that true?"

9. "How many times have you committed suicide?"

10. Q: "So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?"
A: "Yes."
Q: "And what were you doing at that time?"

11. Q: "She had three children, right?"
A: "Yes."
Q: "How many were boys?"
A: "None."
Q: "Were there any girls?"

12. Q: "You say the stairs went down to the basement?"
A: "Yes."
Q: "And these stairs, did they go up also?"

13. Q: "Mr. Slatery, you went on a rather elaborate honeymoon, didn’t you?
A: "I went to Europe, sir."
Q: "And you took your new wife?"

14. Q: "How was your first marriage terminated?"
A: "By death."
Q: "And by whose death was it terminated?"

15. Q: "Can you describe the individual?"
A: "He was about medium height and had a beard."
Q: "Was this a male or female?"

16. Q: "Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice
which sent to your attorney?"
A: "No, this is how I dress when I go to work."

17. Q: "Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?"
A: "All my autopsies are performed on dead people."

18. Q: "All your responses must be oral, OK? What school did you go to?"
A: "Oral."

19. Q: "Do you recall the time that you examined the body?"
A: "The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m."
Q: "And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time?"
A: "No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy."

20. Q: "You were not shot in the fracas?"
A: "No, I was shot midway between the fracas and the naval."

21. Q: "Are you qualified to give a urine sample?"
A: "I have been since early childhood."

22. Q: "Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?"
A: "No."
Q: "Did you check for blood pressure?"
A: "No."
Q: "Did you check for breathing?"
A: "No."
Q: "So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the
autopsy?"
A: "No."
Q: "How can you be so sure, doctor?"
A: "Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar."
Q: "But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?"
A: "It is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere."
It is funny b/c I can actually picture some lawyers actually asking some of those questions!!

The attorneys have communicated on paper to high low amounts, but no paperwork was ever drafted or signed. I don’t think this is binding, but the stupid attorney says it is. This is in Arkansas, if that’s important.
