I went on H&R block and did their 2009 tax estimator and it says that DH and I should get back a 7,419 dollar refund. He claims 0 so that we can get a bigger refund at the end of the year. We have two children(a daughter that’s 2 and a son that’s 11 weeks) so far his gross income is 11,088(laid off some of the year) and he’s paid in 1075 in taxes. We do not pay for childcare, I’m a SAHM, does this sound accurate? We really want to have a big refund since we are trying to pay cash for him a new(used) car
And I have the kids fulltime & she hasnt paid any support. left 3 years ago. Can a Tax Lawyer help me.? Am I going to get my money?
Sen. Barack Obama, perhaps giving America a preview of priorities he would pursue if elected president, is rejoicing over the Senate committee passage of a plan that could end up costing taxpayers billions of dollars in an attempt to reduce poverty in other nations.
The bill, called the Global Poverty Act, is the type of legislation, "We can – and must – make … a priority," said Obama, a co-sponsor.
It would demand that the president develop "and implement" a policy to "cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015 through aid, trade, debt relief" and other programs.
When word about what appears to be a massive new spending program started getting out, the reaction was immediate.
"It’s not our job to cut global poverty," said one commenter on a Yahoo news forum. "These people need to learn how to fish themselves. If we keep throwing them fish, the fish will rot."

I’m having a problem with the tenant downstairs (I live in the upstairs Apartment). My Lease is up next month and the landlord keeps telling me not to worry, He will renew my lease. The downstairs tenant does what ever she wants, Loud Music, Parties all night, even has strange visitors all hours of the night, (possible drugs are involved). Just recently I was up at 6am getting my son up for his day for a tournament, when she went to her basement and turned my circuit breakers OFF. (I’ve notified the Police, and they got involved). She tells the Landlord that I’m the one that starts everything which isn’t true. She has Illegal tenants staying with her and on numerous occasions I’ve caught them smoking Crack & Pot outside the dwelling. I know that the option of moving is there, but if I do it would disrupt my son last year in High School. Can someone tell me the Legal aspects of this and how I could go about doing this? I live in NJ. I pay my rent on time every month and in Cash. She is on assistance and on food stamps, Welfare, and HUD. Should I contact an attorney?
If I make a mistake on my tax form, such as taking a deduction for something that should be not deductible, what are the ramifications if I get audited? Do I just have to pay a fine & the revised tax amount?
Thanks!
I used to file with H&R Block and I have some friends that have used turbo tax but it seems like a few co-workers who earn the same salary and not homeowners like myself seem to get more back filing with their accountant. I am not a dependant but am work my first full-time job after college and was just curious. It seems like they rush you through at H&R Block.
Hi,
I’m a resident of Florida & currently go to school in Pennsylvania @ PSU. I currently have a job in PA where I’ve paid 0 in state taxes. Do I have to file a PA state income tax return? What do I do since Florida does not have state income taxes? Do I get all of the money back I’ve paid into PA? Please help.
I am being sued in civil court in NJ for defaulting on a car loan. I filed a written response. I provide for my three children. I dont own a house. I finance my vehicle. Two of my children are asthmatics. This suit frightens me to death. My husband & I were separated a few years ago. Without his income I couldnt pay for the vehicle & take care of my family, so the vehicle was repo’d. My only choice was a withdrawal from my 401k. I offered an amount on the written response, but it is still two grand short of what the suit is for. I haven’t heard a reply yet. I can’t afford an attorney. I need my income to provide for my kids(rent, heat ,clothes, food & medicine). What do you think will happen?
