income tax?

my father is on child support and he wants to know if you pay off or clear child support, can you file for income tax?
please help me out thank you.

If he is required to file a tax return, he has to do that whether or not he owes child support. If he owes back child support this refund if he has one will most likely be taken to pay toward the child support. If he pays off the back amount, then he’d get his refund if he has one.

ok, if your dad worked last yr, and made over 3,000 then he should file a return this year. if he owes back child support, the IRS will take it out of his refund.
