How come libs don't support tax relief for those of us that pay 80% of the taxes in America?
The top 20% of earners (which includes me) pay 80% of the taxes in America. Why do the libs want to raise my taxes even higher by not extending the Bush tax cuts? Not to mention you know they will try to raise them further. Aren’t I paying more than my fair share already? Source: look it up yourself, I am accurate to within a few % points one way or the other.

To all the whiners…I wasn’t born making 6 figures, spent 4 years in the Marines making squat, paid my own way through college (with the help of the GI Bill) and worked minimum wage jobs as a youngster…my first job out of college was 16k a year…so don’t whine about not having made it yet…just keep your nose to the grindstone and get to work.

Most liberals ultimate goal is to have a socialist state. look at Sweden, the more you earn the more you are taxed, almost to the point that every one earns the same amount. there is no benefit to doing more because you do not get more.
For some reason they feel it is not fair for anyone to have more or earn more than anyone else. ironically the biggest supporters of these ideals are the ones who live in huge mansions.
if they really want to help people they need to wean them off the welfare systems of this country (Welfare is supposed to be a hand up not a lifestyle) and help them become productive contributing members of society, then we will see true equality.

The income tax is progressive, but does not exceed 50% (nor should it). You pay the same tax on your first $30,000 that everyone else pays on theirs.
The trouble is, a lot of folks who make more than $1 million pay only a fraction of the percent of taxes paid by those who earn less than $30,000 a year.
Go whine somewhere else.
Because somehow they got the idea that building wealth is a bad thing for everyone but them, so they want YOU to pay lots in taxes, but they want to keep their own money.
Because tax cuts and massive war spending is a bad mix. It creates a debt that destroys the country. Eat fewer big macs. How’s that work for you?
The budget deficit is at an all time high thanks in large part to the Iraq war. Do you think that poor and middle class voters should pay for this failed war? If republicans want to invade other countries then they’re rich constituents can pay for it.
Sorry, but I have to agree with g. I would love to see you try to live on $ 30,000 a year or less, and see how much fun it is. I do not feel a bit sorry for you, and until you can walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, you have no cause to complain. There is a movie, that I think is called life stinks, and you should really see it. It is a comedy, but it still might open your eyes a little bit. *sm*
In a way you answered your own question,after all if they lower your taxes then where do they get the money for all the government programs they use to keep millions of minority people dependent on the state,thus assuring their re-election? However if you are paying more than the average maybe you are doing something wrong. Not that long ago Warren Buffett seemed to be inferring that betwwen tax shelters and loopholes the wealthy were not paying their fair share,or at least that’s how I have taken several comments he has made over time. Of course in his case it would be even worse since the vast majority of what he makes would come in the form of dividends and capital gains,and with tax rates consistently lowering on both I wonder who pays a higher percentage of his income in taxes,him or his secratary. My bet is that percentage wise it’s his secratary. In raw dollars the rich may pay more but that’s about as far as it goes. Set up a situation where rich corporations can’t hide 50% of their profits from taxation by running things offshore and other loopholes and then perhaps people will be more willing to have a more rational debate on tax rates and who pays what.

Your pay less in taxes per dollar. If you figured out what percent of every dollar you earn goes to taxes, and then you compare it to people who make less money than you do, you will find that those who make less money than you do pay a higher percentage of their income to the government.
