Removing either or both will never happen , there are to many votes involved for the politicians to commit political suicide. Even if they were removed , they would find something else to spend the money on and we would still be in debt to China up the ying yang.
Even though enough money was paid into both to cover it, the government pays out their monthly payments and the left over money goes into the general fund and spent and an accounting entry is made. That means the government owes SS and Medicare a whole lot of money.
too many people depend on and deserve it. When you work hard and honestly all of your life, paying into the system so that when you get old, you will have security, then why should someone be able to come in and yank that security right out from under them.
I don’t think it will happen, if it does, its sooo wrong because our elderly have earned it. they have already been a productive part of society an should get the respect they deserve.
I am not yet eligible for Social Security or Medicare, but I have paid for them throughout my working life.
I have always thought Medicare premiums were way too low, but I didn’t set them. I just paid them. I also paid my SS taxes as required by law; so did my employers. If our elected "representatives think they’re going to cut my future SS benefits, they will see what a revolt is all about. We need to pay more for our Medicare benefits They are way too low. But the congress decided what the taxes and benefits would be, not me. So the government has to live up to its promises (there’s a first time for everything).
Millions of people, and many more are coming on line, have planned their retirements on SS and Medicare. If the government say, "Oops, we can’t afford that," thwy have a real problem.
Is it any wonder why they don’t participate in Social Security and Medicare? They have separe retirement and health care plans.

No. This sounds absurd. I don’t even know why you would think Congress believes this. 110% of the National Debt would be around 13.3 trillion dollars.
