IRS Home Office Deduction Separate Entrance

For those with a home office and wish to know whether or not you can claim it as a deduction, here is some information regarding IRS Home Office Deduction, Separate Entrance.

The home office deduction is reported on a Form 8829 if you’re filing a Sole Proprietorship or a SM-LLC (single member LLC) with default taxation.

If you do business from your home office, including seeing clients or making phone calls and appointments, you may be entitled to a deduction.

You should consult with your attorney, tax lawyer or CPA but in many cases, a room in your home that you convert into an office can be a partial deduction as a business expense.  One thing is you should probably get a separate phone line for you office calls and faxes.

However, be forewarned, it may send a red flag to the IRS and you may be at greater risk of being audited. It may not be worth it in the long run.
