I sent in my IRS check on 4/11/2010 and it still hasn’t been cashed. I’m concerned as I don’t want to pay any fees because the check is lost or from something else that stopped them from getting my money.
What should I do and who should I call to resolve this problem?
Thanks!

Right now if I filed my Illinois state taxes I would get nothing and owe nothing. What are some deductions I can make to get a larger refund. Some one once said you can deduct sales tax and I did buy a car but I can’t find the info on their website. I was a student last year and my parents claimed me.

Is the bankruptcy law the same in all states, and what is the time allowance between each bankruptcy.

Is there a maximum amount the IRS will direct deposit for a tax refund before they just send out a check instead?

Six years ago I attempted to buy a condo, but the seller tried to void the contract and would not release my earnest money. I decided to take him to court and since then I have bought another place and moved again. We finally settled the case this year. Part of the settlement was to release the property, but since I had no interest in actually purchasing the property I immediately (same closing) sold the property to another party which was all part of the deal. I netted just under ,000 and never took possession of the property. How will I be taxed on this money? So far I have not received any tax documentation - only a settlement statement.

ok here is my dilemma. i am a soldier in the army and about a year before i joined the army i purchased a house in which i got an esgrow included in my monthly payment. my problem is that i am currently at my duty station and paying rent along with all my other bills and mortgage and i dont have enough money to pay on my mortgage which is why i am now on the soldiers and sailors relief act, and i have not been able to pay on my mortgage for 6 months, however my house has been on the market but is not selling. my question is, at the end of the year when property taxes are due (im from illinois) will my property taxes be taken care of because i have an esgrow account or is this something that i will have to somehow come out of pocket for, and if i have to come out of pocket, there is a possibility i might not be able to pay it on time or all at once, will the state be able to work something out with me because i am willing to pay my taxes…i am really struck for cash at the moment and having to take care of both house payments( my rent at my duty station is about 300 more than my mortgage) please only answer if you have a knowledgeable answer because this is a serious question that i want to get resolved and get into contact with the right people asap. thanks

I have absolutely NO idea of what I need to when it comes to taxes and stuff. I don’t want to wait until they threaten to take me to jail in order to do something. How can I find out if I owe money or not?

Just found out today that back in 2007 a company that my husband worked for intentionally sent his 1099 form to the wrong address. We didn’t think that he had worked at all for this company that year so when he didn’t receive one we were not worried (he was an independent contractor for apartments and all of our records were destroyed in an accident). Now the IRS says that he did almost ,000 worth of work. Turns out that the company sent the 1099 to his (former) work place and they did not forward it on to us (they claim that they did not have our home address but that is not true - we received mail from them at home) - they only gave it to the IRS. I also DID call the office he worked for and they claimed not to have a 1099 for him because he did so little work for them that year that one was not needed. Also his father worked there and had permission to bring us any information from the company - nothing was sent by him. The company is refusing to send us copies of the invoices that they claim to have from him from that year. They have already taken all of our refund this year and we still owe them several thousand dollars. Do we have ANY recourse against this company that would assist us with the IRS?
Thanks in advance.

I am 18 years old and this will be my first time getting a tax refund.I worked with my mom for 3 months in 2008 and made almost 0 a week but minus taxes it came to about 5 a week. About how much do you think I’ll get back?

I am failed financially and about to seek protection under the bankruptcy law. I run up credit card bills while being married to my to-be-ex-wife, but I don’t want her to be responsible for my failure. Should I file BK before or after divorce is finalized? How can I be sure my creditors wont go after my ex-wife just because we were married when I over-extended myself? Also, I’d like to be sure that her credit wont be killed because of me. Thanks.
